How to get CE Certificate?

CE marking must be affixed on the products to be placed in the European Economic Area, namely the countries of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Even if the product is manufactured outside these countries, it must still bear the CE mark.

How to get CE Certificate?

However, CE marking is not obligatory for the products to be exported outside these countries. Nevertheless, this practice has spread all over the world, and the CE marking on the products gives manufacturers a reputation for indicating that the products are suitable for health, safety and environmental conditions.

According to the free movement of goods within the European Union, member states cannot prohibit, restrict or prevent the entry of products bearing the CE marking unless the provisions of the CE marking are improperly applied or if there is a danger not covered by the relevant directives. Product requirements and performance levels do not change with CE marking. The CE marking does not define any requirements on the performance levels of the products. This is mainly the responsibility of the national authorities in the member states. That is, the CE marking system specifications define how products are tested and classified, but do not interfere with the minimum performance levels required for specific applications in different countries.

The CE mark does not specify any requirements for the application of the products and harmonized product standards define the requirements for the product placed on the market only. For example, the requirements for the application of technical insulation products, ie the lowest or highest performance levels, are not subject to the CE marking system. If special requirements for construction works are to be defined, they are defined only at national level.

Product standards and CE marking offer great advantages to manufacturers, distributors and assemblers in cross-border trade. At least it provides a better basis for technical, commercial and even legal decisions of all market participants.

In particular, companies producing technical materials must follow the requirements and definitions of product standards, which offer great opportunities for themselves. Only in this way, manufacturers have the opportunity to develop a product for the entire European Union market. Compliance with harmonized product standards is a prerequisite for free trade with the European Union. Wholesalers are also more efficient in their work without sticking to national regulations. Likewise, professional installers and planners are able to use their expertise more easily without limitation.

The transparency of the CE marking process makes it possible to compare products directly and quickly. There are certain rules that all follow in the same way. Harmonized standards also facilitate the work of the courts in case of disputes.

In addition to all these advantages, as mentioned above, companies that will send products to European Union countries, if this product falls under the scope of the New Approach Directives, products must be CE marked. The decision to affix the CE mark is entirely within its competence. If it does not require the relevant directives, it is not required to request a CE certificate or certificate from a third party and to pass or approve this organization. Only in mandatory cases is the notified body testing and approval required. Furthermore, it is up to the manufacturer to decide which directives the product is covered by, whether the product meets the requirements of this directive, the declaration of conformity and the CE marking on the product.
